Beware: The viral camera roll trend is cute and everything, but for the love of god don’t zoom in

Some trends, like this new camera roll one, are cute, but then Twitter gets its grubby little hands on it.

Internet trends are a dime a dozen these days, and this week alone we’ve had bedazzled EVERYTHING – even Kylie Jenner has hopped on it – and the trend where it looks like you’re texting a celebrity.

This camera roll trend is perhaps the easiest to do, and it entails finding a gorg picture of yourself. Once you’ve found it in your camera roll, you take a screenshot and upload it to your fav social media platform, though it’s really taking off on Twitter.

That’s basically it, but it’s since become something else entirely. Some are using the camera roll trend to share niche interests and hobbies; after all, you can tell a lot about a person by what they’ve got in their camera roll. I saw one person whose camera roll was simply that Zendaya meme over and over again.

Usually, and depending on what you hope to convey with your post, you caption it something like “did I do this right?” or “I hope I did this correctly”, knowing full well you didn’t.

As is the case with most things that make their way to Twitter, the camera roll trend has been given an x-rated twist by the thirsty, thirsty hordes of social media.

Right now, you’ll spot what appears to be a normal post. However, upon zooming in, you’ll be met with body parts you weren’t expecting. P*rn, in case you missed the reference.

So yeah, be safe out there. Twitter is an increasingly odd space, even moreso since Elon took over.
