Here’s the actual reason Olivia Rodrigo paid for this university student’s tuition
Stop, Olivia called her the ‘kindest coolest girl’
A 23-year-old grad has gone viral after claiming Olivia Rodrigo secretly paid for her university tuition. Love that for her. Here’s a closer look at why Olivia Rodrigo chose to do that for this student.
So, Jamie Causey was studying at the University of Alabama for a Bachelor’s degree in public relations, with a minor in digital, public and professional writing. She’d been making TikToks since 2024 about her life at the University of Alabama. Jamie is known for her content about positivity and self-esteem.

Jamie posted a screenshot showing that Olivia Rodrigo DMed her: “I love your videos so much. You seem like the kindest coolest girl and you are such a source of positivity and light in my life!”
Not long after, Jamie posted a video about the struggles of affording college in the US. She explained on her TikTok: “I was a first-generation student struggling to pay my final semester’s tuition.”
This video apparently caught Olivia Rodrigo’s eye. Jamie narrated: “I wasn’t asking for pity. I was just being honest. Olivia reached out to me privately. She told me she loved my videos and I was a source of positivity an light for her, and she wanted to help me graduate. And she did.”
A screenshot of their messages shows Olivia saying: “I watched your last vid about tuition and I’d love to help out if you were at all open to that? So cool that you are so close to graduating! Do you have a Venmo I could send to?”

Apparently, Jamie was so stunned that she barely believed this at first. She wrote in a TikTok comment: “I did my due diligence in looking up the firm and the person who emailed.” She also specified that Olivia Rodrigo sent her $5,000, which covered her remaining expenses for college. “I was two classes away from graduation. She could have given me $50 and I would have been over the moon.”
Since graduating, Jamie has become an academic advisor at the University of Alabama. Aw.
