Cynthia made a surprise appearance during Ariana’s concert at The O2 Arena on Sunday, with the pair performing Wicked’s For Good together.
The unexpected reunion came after months of speculation about whether the pair were still as close following the release and promotion of Wicked.
Ariana and Cynthia spent several years filming the Wicked adaptation, which went on to become a huge box office success, making around $1.3 billion worldwide.
Their friendship was a major part of the Wicked press tour, with the pair frequently seen supporting each other at premieres, interviews and events. After the promotional cycle came to an end, people began questioning whether their friendship had changed.

Cynthia previously addressed those rumours in an interview in July, insisting that their relationship went beyond simply being co-stars. She also revealed that she and Ariana were still texting “almost every day” and said she planned to attend Ariana’s London show.
And now, Cynthia has followed up the on-stage reunion with an extremely emotional Instagram tribute to Ariana.
Sharing a carousel of photos and clips from the concert on Monday, Cynthia called Ariana her “sweet sister” and “my favourite person to sing with”.
“Ari, my sweet sister, my favourite person to sing with,” Cynthia wrote.
“Thank you for inviting me to share your stage, singing two songs that represent such a massive part of our lives.”
She continued: “This is what we do it for, for the love of the work and for all of the fans. I missed this. We missed this.”

Cynthia then got even more emotional, writing: “And I wish I had more words, but to put it simply, I will never forget this night. Like a handprint on my heart.”
“All my love, Cynthia,” she added.
Ariana was quick to respond to the post, appearing in the comments with a message of her own.
“It’ll always come back to this… just as it started,” she wrote.
“I’m so grateful for this moment and for you… Love you always,” Ariana added.
Cynthia also posted another story, which read “I’ll be back”, suggesting she and Ariana will perform together again.
So, if anyone was still wondering whether the Wicked duo were on good terms, this reunion, and those very emotional Instagram messages, seem to have answered the question.
