Is Twitter down? What’s going on with the app right now as users are met with empty timelines

I’m so lost

It would appear that as of right now, Twitter (or X, I refuse to call it that though), is down. People are reporting problems as of this morning (Thursday 2nd April).

Lots of people are reporting that when you open the app on desktop and mobile, no new tweets are loading. Some are getting completely blank screens, whilst others can only see tweets from yesterday, or even further back. So what’s going on?

Is Twitter (X) down right now?

Yes, it would appear Twitter is down. According to DownDetector, which monitors reports of loads of different sites struggling, people started logging complaints at around 8:30am. Upon publication, there had been hundreds of complaints today.

49 per cent of reports have been about the app in general, a further 29 per cent about problems with the feed or timeline, and the rest were desktop website issues. One person said they were met with a “this account does not exist” error message when they went on their profile, and another said they had a blank screen with “Welcome to X!” written across it, where their timeline should be. This is a nightmare!

Grok has reportedly called it a “brief technical outage” with timelines, feeds and messages not loading new content correctly. There has so far been no official cause released, and no update on when we can expect the site to be fully functioning again. It’s been reported the outage started in India, but now users across the UK are being affected.

Honestly, what do we do now? I can’t see memes? I can’t see news? How am I meant to function? I never thought I’d be appealing to Elon Musk, but man, fix this please!
