Influencer and her daughter found dead after ‘foul smell’ leads neighbours to call police
The cause of death is still a mystery
An influencer and her teenage daughter have been found dead in their Rio de Janeiro apartment after neighbours reported a foul smell coming from inside.
Police identified the two as 33-year-old model and influencer Lidiane Aline Lorenço and her 15-year-old daughter Miana Sophya Santos. The discovery was made last Friday 10th October, when firefighters forced entry into the apartment in the Barra da Tijuca area after no one responded to knocks on the door.

Inside, authorities found Lidiane in a bedroom and Miana in the living room. Both were believed to have been dead for several days. According to reports from Brazilian outlet G1, there were no signs of violence on either of the bodies or in the flat itself.
A statement from Rio de Janeiro’s Civil Police confirmed that a forensic examination had been carried out but said the cause of death is still unknown. The Civil Police said: “A forensic examination was conducted at the scene and found no evidence of assault. The bodies were autopsied, but it has not yet been possible to determine the cause of death. Further tests will be performed.”
Lidiane, who had more than 54,000 Instagram followers, worked as an influencer and model and had previously studied medicine. She had moved to Rio from Santa Cecília a few years ago. Miana, who had only recently joined her mother in the city, was a student at Irma Irene Basic Education School.
The mother and daughter were laid to rest in Santa Cecília over the weekend. Police say the investigation remains ongoing as they wait for forensic test results.
Huge attention has been drawn online to the mysterious circumstances around the deaths, with followers expressing shock and disbelief across social media.
