Emilie Kiser returns with first TikTok since son Trigg’s tragic death: ‘I’ve missed you guys’

She’s back after four months

Emilie Kiser has returned to TikTok, posting her first video on the platform since the tragic death of her 3-year-old son, Trigg.

In May, the content creator and mum-of-two’s son Trigg tragically drowned in the family’s backyard pool while in his father’s care.

Kiser’s comeback, posted on Saturday, was posted roughly four months after Trigg drowned in the family’s pool in Chandler, Arizona. Wearing a necklace engraved with her son’s name, she opened the video by admitting she was nervous to be back online: “Not gonna lie, I’m really nervous right now. I don’t really know if there’s any right way to start this video, but I’m going to do my best.”

She said she missed the daily chats with her followers and hoped rejoining social media could help her reconnect with the community she built since 2021. However, she was also careful about tone and boundaries, both in the video and in a recent Instagram post, stressing that she would be selective about what she shares while she navigates her grief.

“I’m not going to act like things are fine and dandy,” she said in the TikTok. “This is really therapeutic for me. I miss talking to you guys, but I don’t know what that’s going to fully look like. I don’t know how much I’m going to be willing to share, especially about my grief journey.”

Kiser thanked followers for their support and extended empathy to anyone else coping with a similar loss: “If you are going through anything similar, I just want to say that I love you, I’m here for you and I understand how hard it is.”

The creator, who also has a six-month-old son, Theodore, has been largely silent since Trigg’s death in May. In August she posted on Instagram that she would be setting firmer boundaries online; the post acknowledged the couple’s ongoing grief and included the painful admission that “a permanent pool fence could have saved his life”.

Public records and reporting around the incident show Trigg was found in the backyard pool and that emergency response timelines were examined by authorities. Kiser has previously said she was not home when the accident happened and that she will “forever second guess that decision”.

Her husband, Brady Kiser, was questioned by police and was not charged. Kiser didn’t address the details of the investigation or mention her husband in the video.

What comes next for Kiser’s content is still unclear. She promised more when she’s ready, and thanked followers for the “love, compassion, patience and space” they’ve given the family to grieve.
