It’s hard to move online without seeing pictures and videos of the most iconic wedding in the history of celebrity – Charli XCX marrying George Daniel from The 1975. Wow. A pop culture apocalypse. Charli XCX and George Daniel gagged everyone remotely cool over the weekend with the surprise wedding vow ceremony which saw the two of them have the coolest day on earth around East London. The king and queen of Hackney, truly. But there was one question on the lips of literally every fan – why wasn’t Matty Healy at the wedding of Charli XCX and George Daniel when he’s been George’s best mate since they were 13?

Here’s the real reason, and I hope it actually calms down all the parasocial fans of the 1975 online – because it’s a clear explanation.

Guys, there’s another wedding

Matty Healy and George Daniel have been best mates since they were 13, and George has been the drummer of The 1975 since the band’s conception. Because of this, and the fact that the other band members were there to see George and Charli officially tie the knot, people were expecting Matty to be there.

Matty, however, was reportedly in LA with his fiancee Gabbriette – who is currently doing press and screenings for her new film I Know What You Did Last Summer. Whilst some fans have tried to interpret this as bad vibes between George and Matty, it seems to be all good since Matty was at the stag do in Ibiza before the wedding this weekend.

Matty partied with George on the stag do – according to The Sun. A source told the publication ”

George has been busy this summer, but his mates were determined to take him on a stag do.

“He flew to Ibiza for a couple of days for a raucous knees-up with his closest pals – including his bandmates – and party girl Charli was all for it.”

As per reports of the upcoming Sicily wedding, The Sun also said a bit more about Charli and George’s plans.

“Charli and George fell in love with Sicily and knew they wanted to get married there. It’s incredibly secluded and romantic. There will be no expense spare.; it’s costing tens of thousands of pounds and visually it will be mesmerising.”

I cannot wait. We pray for a Brat green wedding dress and the sunglasses to REMAIN. It’s very likely that Matty Healy will be at the second Charli XCX and George Daniel wedding – hopefully, including DENISE WELCH. Camp.
