Influencer dragged for slamming US cost of living after buying $20 Erewhon strawberries
‘Go to a cheaper grocery store?’
An influencer is getting dragged online after buying a punnet of strawberries from the luxury LA grocery store Erewhon and then complaining about the cost of living in the US.
Kat Clark, who has more than seven million followers on TikTok, moved to America from Australia and shared a vlog revealing she is struggling to find a rental and is shocked by how expensive things are there.
“Then I started to freak out even more because of the cost of living in America. I thought Australia was bad. These strawberries were $20 US dollars. That’s almost $30 Australian dollars. What the hell?” she said.
“We also have to buy a new car, new furniture, like literally everything. That’s why as soon as we landed I was like, we need to go grocery shopping because I need to cook at home instead of ordering Uber Eats.”
I’m not saying the cost of living is cheap in America, but everyone knows that Erewhon is literally the most overpriced shop in the world. They sell smoothies for $23 and bags of ice for $30. Yes, $30 just for ice!
After that, she went shopping and added: “I know what you’re thinking. I was just complaining about the cost of living, why the hell am I going shopping? But we got some news that we just couldn’t say no to.”
@katclark Only 2 days in America and we’re already out of here 🫣 #vlog
The influencer is being totally slammed in the comments, with one person writing: “Girl where are you buying strawberries for 20 USD? I buy beautiful juicy strawberries for 1.99 at Aldi.”
“Where the hell did you get $20 strawberries in America.. that is not how much they normally are,” said another, while a third person added: “Go to a cheaper grocery store?”

“I don’t research grocery stores 😂😂😂 I’ve been told which ones to go to now though so will be heading to Walmart for cheaper strawberries. Don’t stress,” she clapped back in the comments.
To make things even crazier, the TikTok star then revealed her daughter just got her first paid brand trip to the Bahamas. How out of touch!
“Wow, absolutely insufferable. They VOLUNTARILY decided to move to the US at one of the worst times imaginable and basically did no research,” someone else said on Reddit.
“Now she’s complaining about the prices of groceries there, finding a nail salon etc. meanwhile buying bags and bags of expensive shopping, two new iPhones (that they realised they can’t use) and going on a ‘holiday’ to the Bahamas literally just after moving there.”
