What does ‘Zahide won this trend’ mean and why is it the top comment all over TikTok?

This week, a new phrase is bouncing around on TikTok under trending videos and challenges, where people are claiming “Zahide won this trend”.

The top comments on a number of viral clips all read the same, regardless of the topic and it’s seriously confusing a lo of users. But who is Zahide and why is she winning these trends?

Zahide is a TikTokker, online content creator, and social media personality who is known for hopping on popular trends and dance videos. Her following is pretty young and she’s only 14 years old herself. She’s also been a member of the dance crew, Lunatix, and has grown popular due to her choreography to a number of songs.

But Zahide hasn’t actually taken part in a number of these trending videos. What actually seems to be happening is her followers are commenting this under a number of popular videos in an effort to encourage Zahide to do the activity or trend in the video. So the meaning behind “Zahide won this trend” is basically just a joke or an attempt to get her to do the activity in the clip.

What’s weird is that these comments are literally everywhere – under not only trending dances or audio, but even stuff like cooking videos or other generic activities.

The line has turned into a bit of a meme itself, as it’s not actually Zahide driving this weird movement, but her followers. Some viewers are possibly commenting it under random videos simply for a laugh, whilst others may actually be wanting to goad Zahide into taking part in the trend or challenge.

With over eight million followers on TikTok, Zahide is pretty big among teens and tweens online and has even stretched out into the world of rap, releasing her first rap song late last year.

So apart from trying to cause confusion, the meaning of “Zahide won this trend” is basically an effort of Zahide’s fans to get her to take part in trending topics and videos. But for some people, it’s getting too much and is just annoying, with one user banning the words “Zahide” and “won” from their app.
