People think JK Rowling has made a savage dig at these Harry Potter stars in a shady post

She’s had spats with core members of the cast over her views on transgender rights

Literally a day after her beef with Azealia Banks, people think that JK Rowling has just made a savage swipe at her Harry Potter film stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint in a pointed tweet. Whilst JK Rowling was ambiguous with who this particular shady tweet was aimed at, it’s easy to see why rumours have been spiralling over who it might be aimed at.

Since JK Rowling has been outspoken in her views on trans rights, those being that she once literally said she’d rather go to prison than refer to a transgender person’s preferred way of pronouns and did a thread declaring trans people as the wrong gender on Twitter, it’s safe to say that not all of the Harry Potter alum agree with her.

What was the tweet?

Quoting a clearly engagement bait question, as Twitter is simply full of these days, JK Rowling responded with a shady tweet. The first post she quoted said “What actor / actress instantly ruins a movie for you” and Rowling responded with “Three guesses”. Many have interpreted this as a clear dig towards the trio that led the film adaptations of her books.

All three of the core Harry Potter cast have called out Rowling’s views on trans rights

When JK Rowling published her five point essay on trans activism, Emma Watson said “I want my trans followers to know that I and so many other people around the world see you, respect you and love you for who you are.”

Daniel Radcliffe posted a statement too, saying “trans women are women” and that he was compelled to say something even as people called him out for how JK Rowling changed his life.

Radcliffe said “The reason I felt very, very much as though I needed to say something when I did was because, particularly since finishing Potter, I’ve met so many queer and trans kids and young people who had a huge amount of identification with Potter on that.” Rupert Grint and Emma Watson backed the statement publicly.

Radcliffe added that he hadn’t spoken to JK Rowling in years. “It makes me really sad, ultimately,” he said, “because I do look at the person that I met, the times that we met, and the books that she wrote, and the world that she created, and all of that is to me so deeply empathic.”

In April 2024, JK Rowling said she will never forgive the three of them regarding these issues and that they can “save their apologies.”
