Lauren finally addresses Dave’s obsession with her pre Love Is Blind friends with benefits ex

She also clarified that she was seeing the guy in question whilst casting for the show

The last few episodes of Love Is Blind have been a lot. One of the big dramas has been Lauren having a friends with benefits ex before Love Is Blind. Her partner Dave has seemed to be fixated on this. Whilst there’s clearly nothing wrong with being with someone before the show, Dave just won’t let it go.

After getting engaged to Dave, Lauren opened up about her relationships before the pods. She said she was essentially seeing a couple of guys, and had a friends with benefits situation. She explained it really wasn’t at all serious. Dave took an instant disliking to this, as he had mutual friends with the guy in question.

Now, speaking to US Weekly, Lauren has shared all about the situation she found herself in. She’s also spoken a lot about how Dave navigated it all, and the response she’s had after it aired on Love Is Blind.

‘I dated someone who shamed me for a sexual relationship before this’

Speaking about the drama, Lauren said it’s relatable for a lot of women. “Dave and I’s story is very relatable – a lot of women probably see themselves in this situation, being like, ‘I dated someone that didn’t believe me or listened to noise or shamed me for having a sexual relationship before this.’ I think that there are a lot of women that see themselves in that scenario,” Lauren said.

She added: “The pods is definitely one of those experiences that unless you go through it yourself, it actually doesn’t make any sense. I remember thinking, ‘How am I going to explain to my friends and family that I got to an emotionally strong enough place to be engaged to someone from this? … How am I gonna word it?’ But Dave and I’s connection felt very easy in the pods.”

‘I didn’t know that’s what he was internally struggling with’

Lauren then spoke about Dave getting messages about her hookups before the show. “He got those messages, like, right away, but he didn’t really tell me that that was such a strong voice in these group chats and in those conversations until like a couple days after we got back,” she said. “I didn’t know that that’s what he was internally struggling with in the beginning.”

She then admitted she was still seeing the guy in question whilst casting for Love Is Blind, which wasn’t completely clear before. However, she said it wasn’t serious enough to bring up. Lauren added: “I wouldn’t even consider it a situationship because if it were a situationship, it would be like, ‘Oh, do we wanna be together or not be together?’ And like we weren’t having those conversations.

“He knew that I was having conversations with casting the entire time that we were talking. And I remember him saying, ‘We don’t need to take this very seriously.’ We were friends with benefits.”

Lauren told US Weekly she knew it would be “embarrassing” when these conversations came back up. “My Nonna watches this show,” she said. “Like, my entire sexual history is gonna be aired for national television – that’s embarrassing for me. That was a whole other thing that I wasn’t fully prepared to do.”

She added that despite the drama it’s caused she knows she “did nothing wrong” but was “was trying to understand Dave’s perspective too.”

Lauren concluded: “This is not a reflection of my inability to navigate a serious relationship. If anything, I think it gives me more credit that I can navigate relationships.”
