Exclusive: Lauren’s friends-with-benefits ex on why he made *that* Love Is Blind headshot

‘Reddit found me out weeks ago’

Love Is Blind’s Lauren O’Brien is embroiled in some messy relationship drama after her soon-to-be husband Dave Bettenburg took issue with a friends-with-benefits situation from months before they met.

After six long episodes in the pods, Lauren and Dave finally met and got engaged. Unfortunately, their pre-marital bliss was soon interrupted when Lauren opened up about earlier relationships. Essentially, she was seeing a couple of men but it was never that serious.

Dave did not love the fact he knew the man in question through mutual friends but some have suggested he deliberately created an issue to get out of the relationship.

Sherlock Holmes wannabes on Reddit found the man in question, lawyer and fitness lover Daniel Nides who funnily enough created his own Love Is Blind headshot before making his Instagram private. Now, in an exclusive comment to The Tab, Daniel has shed light on his reasoning behind the photo.

Lauren’s ex created the Love Is Blind headshot to ‘control the narrative’

People on Reddit have been widely sharing Daniel’s Love Is Blind headshot which showed him suited and booted alongside the tagline “Time to swap leg day for love day” which is arguably already better than half of season eight’s cast.

“You can find me eight floors up in the same ‘frigging’ building,” he captioned the post, referencing Dave and Lauren’s beef that we witnessed in the Netflix show.

Speaking to The Tab, Daniel explained that he was simply trying to make light of a situation that he had absolutely no control over. He knew it was probably going to come up and with it a notoriety he did not sign up for.

“I was just making light of a situation I didn’t have any control over, thought I’d give the people who know me a good laugh,” he told us. “Reddit found me out weeks ago and I just wanted to make sure I controlled my own narrative, and make light of it.”

With more episodes of Love Is Blind set to release at the end of this week, we’ll no doubt be seeing how Lauren’s previous relationships affected her engagement.
