Mystery of the Love Is Blind cast’s matching gold jewellery might be solved – it’s so simple

People on Reddit think they’ve cracked why the Love Is Blind cast are all wearing eerily similar jewellery, and while some have suggested it could be a brand deal for the Netflix show, one other theory seems more likely.

In the later episodes of Love Is Blind season eight, after Meg and Mason headed to splitsville, the couples enjoyed a sunny vacation before returning to meet one another’s families. It was here that the jewellery trend became more apparent, with Lauren, Dave, and her friends all brandishing similar bling while working out.

Wearing multiple necklaces for a sweaty workout quickly became a debate online, and though the cast members could just be fashion-focused, it looks like they could serve another more crucial function.

People think the Love Is Blind jewellery trend is microphones

Look, while watching reality TV the last thing you want is to spot cameras, microphones, and production lurking in the background. It’s supposed to be immersive and part of that is crafting the image of reality when it’s heavily produced. For that reason, people have theorised that the gold necklaces we saw during the workout scene are actually just microphones.

Though Devin was seen wearing his gold and ruby necklace for most of the pod segment, others seemed to suddenly start wearing them when out in the real world. Because filming and capturing audio is harder outside of the set, it would call for discrete microphones and what’s more discreet than a mic dressed as a necklace?

When images of the most recent episodes were shared on Reddit with the question “What’s with all the gold necklaces while exercising?!!! I am so confused by this”, many people argued that it made sense to be wearing microphones while working out.

“It’s their mics lol,” one person said, as another wrote, “I’m pretty sure they are microphones.”

It’s happened before

With every Love Is Blind season people take to Reddit, TikTok, and Twitter to seek answers to their most burning questions. Funnily enough, a lot of them are about the seemingly matching jewellery.

Back in 2020, one person on Reddit wrote: “Every man on the show wore horrendous hemp necklaces in Mexico. Thought they all had terrible taste — then realized it’s the mic. Further investigation in comments.”

“I realized why the guys in Love Is Blind are wearing hemp necklaces in Mexico — that’s where they put the mics because they were never wearing shirts and couldn’t clip it to anything,” another said on Twitter.

Again in Love Is Blind season six, people spotted similar microphone necklaces on the necks of participants such as AD And Clay. We also frequently see it in other shows, with Love Island using Point Source Audio necklaces to capture every word, syllable, and exasperated sigh the Islanders drop.
