‘It’s just immature’: Brittany calls out Devin’s reaction to her sexuality on Love Is Blind

Love Is Blind season eight’s Brittany Dodson has compared her former flame Devin Buckley to an “immature” ex-boyfriend for his handling of her sexuality during the pods segment of the Netflix show.

I low-key thought Brittany and Devin were endgame. They seemed to be on the exact same page as one another, but while Brittany supported Devin when he admitted to taking 20 Ibuprofen a day to help with pain, he did not return the favour when she opened up about her sexuality.

Despite having multiple experiences with women, Brittany did not identify herself as bisexual and said she’d always envisioned marrying a man. You’d think that would be great news to Devin, who is a man, but he honestly acted like she’d just shot his childhood dog.

Though we don’t really know why Devin was immediately put off, Brittany has now spoken to how the snub made her feel.

Brittany said she always wanted to marry a man and that relationship would be completely monogamous, and yet, her truth seemingly tanked the bubbling attraction between her and Devin. It never recovered and Brittany quickly ditched the romance when he failed to show his support.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about the snub, Brittany said the moment sparked recollections of an earlier boyfriend’s own reaction to her sexuality.

“I’ve had an ex that told me later on, even though I broke up with him, that was a big thing that was in the back of his mind, and it’s just immature,” she said. “It’s not like every woman that’s walking past me, I’m looking at — or guy, for that matter. That’s a part of life, exploring your sexuality, exploring who you are, and I just felt like it was just a very closed-minded view.”

Her worries weren’t just about Devin’s acceptance of her sexuality, but also about what it could mean in the future when they have a family.

Calling it a “narrow-minded view” she added: “For him to not be open about it? If we have children, all these things were running through my mind, like could you not accept our child if our child came to you and said this? I’m not telling you I want to go date women while we’re getting married.”

Brittany seemed somewhat willing to continue with the relationship, but after coming back to the pods following some hard thinking, Devin was largely silent about the topic. That was the final nail in the coffin.

“When I shared really personal things about myself, he very much so made it about him, saying, ‘I need to take my time to figure this out,'” she told the publication. “This egocentric attitude. I could sense a little immaturity there. And I could also sense, kind of reading between the lines, that he was a little mama’s boy, and I’m like, ‘I don’t want this. I don’t want to carry a relationship.'”
