The Lancaster Tab is looking for new writers, and here’s why it should be you

Our open meeting is on Tuesday 21st January at 6pm in the Harpley Lounge

It’s official – on Tuesday 21st January, at 6pm, we will be hosting our open meeting to recruit new writers.

This is your opportunity to get stuck in with the best student news and media outlet on campus, whether you’re a writer, obsessed with social media or are excited about trying new things. Our articles are published by Lancaster students, for Lancaster students, and our writers gain valuable experience in writing a range of stories, from hard-hitting news to fun and friendly features. There’s always something for you, so here’s why you should get stuck in!

There’s no application process

If you come along to the open meeting, then you’re in – we don’t need to see a CV or any writing samples. If you’re enthusiastic and interested, then you’re more than welcome.

You don’t need any experience

All you need, in order to get stuck in with the Lancaster Tab, is an email address, an account on Facebook Messenger so you can keep up to date with us, and a willingness and keenness to get involved. If you’re up for it, then that’s all you need

We’re flexible around your studies

We have a regular meeting at 6pm on a Tuesday, but beyond that, there is no real time commitment. If you want to write six articles a week and outshine everyone, then that’s amazing, but if you want to chug away at your articles nice and slowly during deadline season, then that’s perfect too.

You can write about almost anything you want

As long as it’s connected to Lancaster and in the student interest, it’s good with us. You want to try a new society and write about it? Excellent! Want to talk about a particular topic or subject? Of course! Want to write up breaking news on campus? Go for it!

It’s amazing for your CV

Joining The Lancaster Tab opens up a realm of opportunities: Tab writers have gone on to work for a range of great companies such as BBC, Vogue, and even The Tab HQ in London. We also have experience of freelance journalism work within our current editorial team, and love to share our tips and tricks.

You’ll also get the opportunity to write for the national website, The Tab, which gets more than nine million readers each month!

Just come along to our open meeting on Tuesday 21st January (Week 12) in the Harpley Lounge (Upstairs in Pendle Brew) at 6pm, to meet the team and find out more!
