Here’s what that hand gesture the Squid Game characters kept doing actually means
I was so confused
During Squid Game 2 there are a lot of unanswered questions. Be that the constant plot holes, or theories of what’s next to come – the show is full of things that keep our minds racing. One thing you might have been wondering about is a small hand gesture a bunch of the Squid Game characters seem to do a lot.
One person who’s a big fan of showing his feelings through hand gestures and big expressions is Squid Game 2’s, Thanos. In the first episode of the new season, he falls a bit for a fellow player. Whilst trying to flirt with her, he turns and does the hand symbol. He put his thumb upwards and his index finger across it, with his other fingers tucked away.
So, what does the hand gesture in Squid Game actually mean?
It turns out, the gesture isn’t just a Squid Game on Netflix thing. A TikToker shared a video of her at a press event with the Squid Game cast, and she makes eye contact with Lee Jung-jae, the actor who plays Gi-hun. She obviously saw her chance, and took it. In the clip, she did the symbol at Lee Jung-jae, who giggled and did it back.

“What does the finger thing mean?? Someone explain pls??”, someone in the comments has said. Another added: “🫰🏾 BRUH WHAT DOES THIS MEAN.” People then explained it looks a bit like a mini heart, and the symbol means “I love you.” Cute!

If you had the subtitles on whilst you were watching Squid Game 2, you might have noticed Netflix dub it as “I like you.” So, Thanos was pretty much shooting his shot at that player – if you’ll pardon the awful pun there.
