Oh god, defiant Nick Jonas hits back at backlash after showing support for Elon Musk
Some have argued his ‘gross’ tweet is an endorsement of Donald Trump
Using nothing but a single quote tweet, Nick Jonas has managed to dethrone himself as the favourite Jonas Brother just months after Joe muddied his reputation with cutting remarks about ex Sophie Turner.
Many of us grew up watching the Jonas Brothers on our screens, whether that be through films like Camp Rock or their solid bank of music. That love has transferred into adulthood, but now they’re making it really hard to love them. Not you though Kevin, sweet angel.
Nick Jonas has always been a bit of a showboat, but I didn’t realise that he was hungry for that negative spotlight as well. The Twitter chaos – and I’m calling it that because I refuse to use X – started on Tuesday when Elon Musk bragged that Tesla’s profits are “up 100 per cent” after he who shall not be named was announced as the President-elect.

“My, how the tables have turned!” the Tesla CEO wrote alongside a GIF of the Jonas Brothers carrying a table. Just a few hours later, Nick sealed his fate by replying to the post with a picture of Elon and “Take us to the Year 3000” in the caption. It was an obvious nod to his 2006 song, not to be confused with the far better tune of the same name by Busted.
Nick remained incredibly tight-lipped about his political beliefs during the election, with his wife Priyanka Chopra arguing that they tend to keep out of it. Essentially, they love to ride the fence.

Despite his lack of public political beliefs, many people on Twitter have taken his post as confirmation of his support for both Elon Musk and Donald Trump. It’s hard to argue otherwise when Elon has been a constant figure in the American political system these last few months.

“I DID NOT HAVE A CRUSH ON NICK JONAS FOR THIS TO HAPPEN OH MY GOD,” one person screamed on Twitter.
“And just like that …You ruined everything AGAIN Nicholas,” another said, while a third added, “I hope one day your daughter meets a man who treats her like Elon and the rest of his friends treat women. Let’s see how supportive you are then.”

Some have even argued that we shouldn’t be surprised, stating: “People acting shocked about this development as if the Jonas Brothers aren’t just three non-college-educated white evangelical men from New Jersey, like, statistically the most likely demographic to buy into Trump-Musk’s whole deal.”
“I know it’s hard for you guys to comprehend but rich people don’t care about us; even Nick Jonas,” someone else said.
Nick Jonas responded to the backlash
After Twitter was engulfed in fierce debate over his tweet, sources close to Nick told the MailOnline that he’s already over it and moving on. Sorry, Nick, we’re not!
They said: “Nick is not going to waver from his post on Elon Musk, nor will he double down, and doesn’t plan on deleting it. He thinks many are taking things a little overboard in how they are reacting to it all, but there is nothing he can do about it except let everything die down.
“For Nick, there are a lot more important things to worry about than dealing with online trolls over what he thought was a fun and non-drama filled post. Support or not, Nick was trying to be clever over making some type of statement or announcement of support, but on the internet, you can’t do anything without getting attacked.
“This will pass and Nick has already moved on from whatever controversy this somehow has made.”
Kevin Jonas, if you’re reading this please be nice to your wife and keep off Twitter. The 12-year-old in me can’t take any more.
