Who actually killed the son Jacob in No Good Deed? That ending explained

There was a very unexpected twist

After Black Doves took over the world, No Good Deed is the next big thing on Netflix and the eight-part series had everyone gripped.

It follows three very different families who all want to buy the same 1920s Spanish-style house, which they think will solve all their problems.

Lisa Kudrow plays the home’s current owner, Lydia Morgan, and everything gets dark when we discover her son was murdered there.

So, who actually killed Jacob? If you’re confused, here’s the entire ending explained.

So, who killed the son Jacob in No Good Deed?

In the final episode, we find out it was their neighbour Margo who shot and killed Jacob with JD’s gun. However, Emily thought she was the one who killed her brother.

Teenage Jacob was stealing luxury items from neighbours and gifting them to Margo, a much older woman who he was supposedly having an inappropriate relationship with.

He threatened to tell her husband JD about the relationship, but she insisted there was never anything going on. We don’t really know if they were sleeping together or not.

Margo chased Jacob out of her home while holding her husband’s gun. They argued as she tried to encourage him not to say anything about the affair and a gun went off.

However, it wasn’t Margo’s gun. Emily had picked up her own gun after she saw a masked figure trying to break into her home. It was Jacob, who was wearing his burglar mask.

She had no idea it was her brother and fired the weapon. After instantly assuming she killed him, she ran away. However, it was Margo who shot and killed Jacob.

Paul and Lydia finally found out years later

Paul and Lydia always thought it was Emily too. However, in the present day, they begin to work out what actually happened as they realise they both have two different bullet casings.

They had been hiding the bullet casing they believed killed Jacob upstairs in a pillowcase for years, but a new was was found in an evidence box Paul’s brother Mikey kept.

Leslie, who wants to buy the house, finds out that Jacob was killed by a .40 caliber gun after looking at the autopsy report and realises JD owns that exact weapon.

In the final episode, Leslie tells Lydia that the gun Emily fired is a .9 millimeter so there is no way Emily could have shot her brother.

The Morgans hid the autopsy and shut down the investigation as soon as Jacob was murdered to protect their daughter, so they never realised she didn’t actually kill him.

Netflix hasn’t confirmed whether No Good Deed will be back for season two.
