Um, Karma by JoJo Siwa is outperforming Katy Perry’s new single on Spotify?

In the wildest and most laughable pop news of recent, yesterday marked an embarrassing stat for Katy Perry in a series of constant blows for the former titan – she got outperformed on daily streams by JoJo Siwa. Great news for JoJo Siwa, who has for better or worse had a lot of cultural impact with her debut “adult” pop song Karma and all the drama surrounding it. Equally, Katy Perry has had a load of drama surrounding her comeback with Woman’s World and its follow up Lifetimes, and despite all the laughs levvied at JoJo Siwa for her song nobody has had more of a blow than Katy Perry. It’s been a failure on all fronts, but amusingly enough as per yesterday Karma by JoJo Siwa is now outperforming Lifetimes by Katy Perry in daily streams. YIKES.

After the disaster that saw Woman’s World, the much maligned lead single, Katy Perry rush released its follow up Lifetimes in an attempt to get the 143 album era back on track. The single, again produced by Dr Luke, was heavily criticised for its generic dance sound and received comparisons to music Love Island might play when a new bombshell enters the villa.

Lifetimes, despite being just over a week old, yesterday got less streams than Karma by JoJo Siwa – who released five months before Katy Perry.

Nope.

Yestrrday, Karma received 519,850 streams. Lifetimes received 4892,631.

It’s another major blow for Katy Perry as she navigates her critically and commercially panned album rollout. Lifetimes has also been wrapped up in drama after the Department of Environment and Mobility of the Government of the Balearic Islands announced they were investigating her and her team for whether filming Lifetimes caused any environmental damage to a protected area.
