Married at First Sight Australia’s Shannon shuts down rumours he is a drug addict

‘Absolutely not!’

MAFS Australia 2023 cast member Shannon Adams has been forced to deny claims that he is addicted to drugs following his time on the experiment. In an interview with Daily Mail Australia, Shannon set the record straight and opened up about his diagnosis with ADHD as an adult.

When asked if he was addicted to drugs, he responded: “Absolutely not! I’m not a meth addict.” The 30-year-old explained he was diagnosed with ADHD once filming for MAFS Australia was over. The diagnosis resulted in him taking dexamphetamine, a medication prescribed to him by his doctors.

“It’s a long, challenging process to get diagnosed and treated for ADHD,” Shannon explained. “Only those who’ve experienced it would understand my thought process.”

He jokingly said: “If I was on meth, I would’ve been wide awake during those 4am commitment ceremonies, not looking glassy-eyed and ready to fall asleep.”

Shannon has also opened up about his major career change from a personal trainer to an Uber Eats driver. He told Daily Mail Australia to he isn’t “ashamed” of what he does for work. He said: “Never be ashamed of what you do to support yourself, especially in the financial hardship world we live in today! Hustle hard and still dream big!”

The former Married at First Sight Australia groom was in a couple with Caitlin, but their relationship quickly ended after he admitted he was still in love with his ex-girlfriend. During the commitment ceremony, Shannon said he wanted to stay while Caitlin said she wanted to leave and eventually, they both left the experiment.
