Love Island winner Kai returning to Sheffield Hallam to teach an actual Love Island module

Amy VarleyThis year’s winter Love Island winner Kai Fagan is hanging up his flip flops and heading back to Sheffield Hallam University to teach a module about the hit reality TV show.
Expected in an announcement soon, Kai, who worked as a teacher before appearing on the dating show, will work with the Media, Arts and Communications (MAC) department in the university to teach its students about the ins and outs of Love Island and what it means to be a reality TV star in this current age.
The elective module will become available to second-year students this September, at the same university where Kai earned one of his three degrees.
When asked why he was returning to his old stomping ground, Kai told The Sheffield Tab: “Love Island has become such a massive part of British media recently, so I think it’s important that university students start to learn about how it works and what impact it has.”
“I want it to change people’s point of view on reality TV. If I can impart some wisdom about how to handle the way TV is nowadays, that’s all I want really.”
The module will only have 20 spaces, so students will have to fight tooth and nail if they want a space.
With the media landscape ever-changing, Kai hopes that teaching this module will improve the knowledge of his students.
April Hewitt, a student in the MAC department and heading into her second year said: “I fancied Kai on Love Island so much, I’m fangirling so much that he’s coming back to Hallam. I will fight anyone I have to to make sure I get one of those 20 places. Don’t mess with me.”
When asked about Kai’s return to Hallam, final year journalism student Henry Willis who has admitted to never watching Love Island before said: “Kai Fagan? Who is that?”
