Man held in custody over alleged rape on University of Lincoln campus is bailed

Holly RebekahA man who was held on suspicion of rape after an alleged attack on University of Lincoln campus has been bailed.
Two men were arrested over the weekend on suspicion of rape, after an alleged attack in Campus Way, University of Lincoln, BBC reports.
A report was made to Lincolnshire Police regarding a woman allegedly being assaulted at a property on Saturday.
A 27-year-old man from a village south of the city was arrested on Campus Way, University of Lincoln over the incident early Saturday morning.
He was taken into custody for questioning on Sunday afternoon.
The second arrest of a man from Sleaford occurred the following day on Sunday, but the man has since been released with no further action.
During the investigation, the University of Lincoln SU appealed to the student community on Instagram for information that would help to identify a man in relation to the case.
A spokesperson from the University of Lincoln commented on the incident, saying: “The university and Lincoln Students’ Union are helping with police enquiries and supporting all those affected in our community. If students are in need of support please contact the university’s wellbeing team, who have trained specialist advisors available. The SU can also offer independent advice and support.”
Superintendent Phil Baker of Lincolnshire Police said: “This has been a fast-paced investigation involving several different lines of enquiry, and we now have a suspect in custody. Our officers have been engaging with people in the area and will continue to do so.”
