University of Lincoln strikes scheduled for the start of term have been cancelled

The five days of strikes that were scheduled at Lincoln next week from the 25th to the 29th have been cancelled by the University and College Union (UCU).

The cancellation was announced to students and faculty over email this morning, with the university telling students that industrial action had been cancelled after the Lincoln branch of the UCU allowed the university to be exempt from the scheduled strike action that was due to start on Monday. As a result, none of the staff at Lincoln will be striking on the scheduled dates and students should expect no disruption to any of their lectures and seminars next week. Similar exemptions have been granted to other universities nationally such as York, Bristol and Kings.

In addition, the university hopes that the strike cancellation will come as good news to students starting their studies next week.

Lincoln’s exemption from union action means that all lectures and teaching will now be going ahead as usual, giving students at the university a smooth transition into the start of the academic year after so much disruption with last year’s strikes and the marking boycott.
