It’s official! Dick and Dom are coming back to Lancaster

| UPDATED

It’s happening, it’s real. LUSU has just released all the events for this year’s Welcome Week, and there’s so much happening at The Sugarhouse. Whether you’re a fresher or just want to relive the freedom of being a fresher before the stress of second or third year consumes you, the lineup of events at Sugar this year absolutely slays. Here’s the lowdown on everything happening at Sugar during Freshers’ Week.

Monday 2nd October: Wonka’s Chocolate Factory

For one night only, Sugar invites students to step into a world of pure imagination and dance like only the candy man can. The nightclub will be turned into a Wonka’s chocolate factory of dreams, with free sweets, chocolate and popcorn up for grabs too! There will also be a chance to find a “golden ticket”, which grants you free entry to the closing event on Saturday 7th. Let me whack out my oompa loompa costume, and I’ll see you there.

Tuesday 3rd October: Freshers Funfair

The first of two funfair nights, after the Big Night On bar crawl, The Sugarhouse become a fairground, with dancers, fire breathers and most importantly, free popcorn. County, Furness, Fylde and Pendle students who attended the bar crawl will get free entry but the event is open to everyone.

Wednesday 4th October: VK Takeover

No Lancaster Freshers’ Week would be complete without a VK event. VK’s “We Are The Beat” event will be happening at Sugar, and there’s an opportunity to win a one-of-a-kind VK X LUSU hoodie. Start as you mean to go on: There’s literally no better way to start the year than with Sugar’s famous three VKs for £6 deal.

Thursday 5th October: Freshers Funfair

Again, following the Big Night On bar crawl, Sugar will be transformed into a fairground. Along with the free popcorn, stilt walkers and firebreathers have been promised. Whether you dress up as a clown, a ringmaster or the world’s strongest man, it’s sure to be a great time. This time Bowland, Grizedale, Lonsdale and Cartmel students will be granted free entry if they attend the bar crawl.

Friday 6th October: Freshers’ Full Moon Beach Party

A classic Freshers’ theme, it’s time to dig out your Hawaiian shirts and floral garlands as Sugar transports you to Thailand. There will be tons of giveaways and a one-night-only special VK bucket cocktails. The heatwave will probably be a long-distant memory by then, but at least you can pretend you’re at the beach for one night.

Saturday 7th October: Naughty Noughties

Sugar’s closing event is none other than a party celebrating everything 2000s, with a DJ set from none other than Dick and Dom! Sugar has promised more giveaways, and it’s definitely going to be a night filled with childhood nostalgia. Who else is excited to yell “BOGIES” at Dick and Dom?
