In life-ruining news, Pret has just permanently axed free drinks from its subscription

What’s even the point anymore?

| UPDATED

If you’re one of the girlies with a Pret subscription, your life is about to be thrown into chaos – the chain has just announced that it has axed the free drinks that you’ve been accustomed to permanently. The huge shakeup to the Pret subscription will see the five free drinks deal axed and be replaced with a 50 per cent off deal instead. Dismal.

Horrible, horrible news

A Club Pret coffee subscription currently costs £30 monthly, and gets you up to five free barista made drinks every day. However, on September 3rd the subscription will change and reduce to £10 – but you will no longer get any free drinks at all. You will get 50 per cent off barista free drinks and no longer get any discount on food at all – right now you can get 20 per cent off.

Club Pret will have an introductory offer from September to March of just £5 cost, then it will go up to the actual £10.

Clare Clough, the UK and Ireland managing director of Pret, said the following regarding the free Pret drinks getting axed from the subscription: “We know this is a change. But with Club Pret subscription, our coffees, teas, coolers and iced drinks will continue to be the best offer on the high street, and at a much more accessible price than the £360 a year people have to pay for the current scheme. Given the majority of our customers are not Club Pret subscribers, our priority now is to focus on better value for everyone.”

Pret is apparently reducing some prices, though – a small mercy. Filter coffee is going down to 99p, and the croissant is being reduced in price too. To be fair, it’s the LEAST they could do after ruining everyone’s year.
