We’re looking for an energetic UK-based reporter who eats, sleeps, breathes US celeb culture


The Tab is hiring a US Entertainment Writer to work at its HQ. You’ll be an ambitious reporter who is obsessed with American TV and celebrity culture, known for being the person everyone comes to for the latest celeb tea. 

This role is part of a new and exciting area of expansion into the US. The role is UK-based (preferably London). This is a fast-paced role with lots of scope for creativity and an opportunity to get your stories in front of millions of people every day. 

This person will be the go-to for stories on the US celebs, TV and trends that 18-25s love: from Taylor Swift to the Kardashians to TikTokers to reality TV. 

Key responsibilities 

  • Writing five stories a day for The Tab site, focusing on US entertainment stories 
  • Identifying the top US entertainment trends throughout the day, pitching and writing stories on them
  • Publishing stories from quick news write ups to features to profiles to quizzes
  • Identifying new shows and celebrities that everyone is obsessing over 
  • Being the in-house expert on US entertainment
  • Working towards monthly pageview target as set out by Head of Entertainment

The types of stories you’ll be writing

You will need

  • A catalogue of published entertainment stories under your belt
  • A track record of writing stories with a wide readership
  • A knack for finding stories from the fringes – like podcast interviews, Reddit
  • The ability to turn around sharp, accurate and witty copy quickly
  • Experience working in a target-driven role
  • Experience in a writing high volume of stories in a news room setting
  • A 2.1 from a British or American university
  • Experience in managing a social media account is preferable

This role would suit someone who is either a grad or an entertainment reporter at a national publication with 0-3 years under their belt. Salary is dependent on experience within this bracket.

About The Tab

The Tab is a news site covering student and youth culture with seven million readers a month. We cover everything from Netflix to politics, as well as dominating uni campuses all over the UK. The Tab is part of Digitalbox Plc – the growing media company behind The Poke, The Daily Mash, TV Guide and Entertainment Daily! At The Tab we put young people in charge; the average age is 25 and many staff go on to run their own team within three years.

You’ll join a team of 11 journalists in our HQ, which is based in Shoreditch, London. The roles offer a mix of home and office-working with two mandatory office days. You’ll have unlimited access to our shared office which includes a roof terrace, free yoga, weekly Thursday drinks, and plenty of dogs. Being close to London is a plus, but UK-based remote applications will also be accepted.
