‘I thought Zach would leave with me’: Molly spills all after Love Island 2023 dumping

‘I wonder now if he maybe regrets saying he was still open?’

Friday night’s episode of Love Island was a big shocker for us all, and ended in Molly Marsh making an abrupt exit from the 2023 villa. She was sent packing after bombshell Kady McDermott stole Zach, leaving her single.

Nobody saw the big twist being about to happen, and since everyone’s been questioning if Molly could make a miraculous comeback. However, she’s done an interview with ITV about her Love Island journey coming to an end, and has commented heavily on the savage nature of her exit – here’s what Molly had to say.

Is there any bad blood between Molly and Kady?

Kady entering the villa and stealing her man is what ultimately caused Molly to be dumped, so you’d understand if she was pissed off. But, Molly has said there’s no bad blood, and she understands Kady did “what she needed to do”.

“I didn’t expect Kady to have such a big decision to make so soon,” Molly said. “But, in her defence, she had to do what she needed to do. And if I was in her position, I would have also chosen Zach because to me he is the best looking person in there, he is the guy that gives off the best energy.

“She chose the right person. I don’t have anything against her, she did what she had to do. She’s gone with her gut, so she couldn’t have done anything differently.”

‘My heart dropped, everyone was so shocked’

Molly’s dumping was the biggest Love Island shock of all time, so what was the vibe like in the villa when it happened? Molly said: “When I got the text to find out that I’d be dumped from the Island everyone around the fire pit was so shocked. No-one expected it. My eyes went straight to the word ‘bags’ on the text and I thought, ‘Oh my goodness, I’m going.’

“I saw Zach’s face drop. And seeing Kady and Zach standing in front of me together, my heart dropped. I just didn’t want to see it but I understood it needed to happen and I trust in the timing of the universe and everything happening for a reason. So I knew it was clearly my time to go and if something good will come from me and Zach then it still will. If he finds something with Kady then that’s that.”

Molly said she hopes something will come of her and Zach’s connection in the outside world, and said she’ll “definitely wait for him.” She added: “I want to see him when he comes out and I want to carry on where we left off, because I think there’s still unfinished conversations and more to get to know about each other.”

When asked if there was a part of her that thought Zach was going to leave the villa with her, Molly said yes there was. “There was definitely a part of me that thought, ‘Come home with me’,” she said. “I thought, ‘Let’s go and we can carry this on.’ But it’s his journey as well and he probably needs to keep himself a little bit open and see if there is something there.

“Me and Zach had said to each other we can’t be fully closed off yet and it will take time to get there. But it was heading to that, we were quite close to being that. I wonder now if he maybe regrets saying he was still open. Maybe he was wishing he’d said, ‘I am closed off’ and it would have been different. I would have loved him to have come back with me and come home. But I understand he needs to stay and see what’s right and hopefully we carry on at home when he does leave.”

She said at the time of her dumping, she had been too speechless to fully tell Zach she’d be waiting for him outside the villa.

‘I’m definitely keen to introduce Zach to my family’

Molly said that when she was with Mitch, she saw return patterns from her previous relationships, whereas with Zach she found something new, that she was enjoying. “I found his cheeky side, his playful side and then also he’s very still, present side,” she said. “We align together quite well. Our conversations matched; if we wanted to chill outside of the drama we would, if we wanted to be a bit cheeky and flirty we absolutely would.”

Molly said she is “definitely keen to introduce Zach to family” and said they will “support the way he’s been” with her. “He’s looked after me. He’s clearly a safe space, I clearly feel comfortable there. There’s never any pressure, he lets me feel how I want to feel emotionally and physically I can be myself.”

Overall, Molly has no regrets

Molly said she wouldn’t change anything about her Love Island journey, and has no regrets. She did say however, if something was different, “I feel like the outcome could have been different.”

She said she has learned a lot about herself from time in the villa, and has made friends for life. Now I guess all we’ll have to see is if Zach does come through and she’s not waiting for him for nothing. 👀
