Bournemouth’s Women’s Rights march
Demonstrations will take place nationwide on Saturday 18th January
A peaceful protest will be held in Bournemouth this week in support of women’s rights.
Organised by Grassroots Feminism, the march is in response to Donald Trump’s inauguration and Nigel Farage’s stance on abortion.
The march will be held on Saturday 18th January, where thousands of women are set to gather in women’s rights, specifically surrounding healthcare and anti-abortion legislations.
March organiser, Carolyn Storer, posted to the official Facebook page for Grassroots Feminism with a detail account of the mission statement. She wrote: “As a result of Donald Trump taking the presidency in January 2025, and Nigel Farage picking up the anti-abortion mantle here in the UK, it’s time to make our voices heard.
“We are not free until all women are free.”
Within the post, Carolyn continued to state the mission objectives and reinforce that the marches are a safe, and inclusive space for all women.
“We aim to raise awareness of the extensive and growing inequalities and diminishing rights faced by women globally.
“Our feminism is intersectional’ is a closing statement made by Carolyn, bringing focus onto the minorities subjected to antifeminist acts. The post urges the acknowledgement of ‘these differences for feminism to work.”
Taking place from 12pm until 3pm, the march will coincide with other protests across the UK.
The official poster for the event outlined how those unable to march can join the movement: “For those unable to march with us, there will be an accessible rally at the end. We will also be streaming live across all our socials @womensrightsmarch.”
