Explained: Who is TikToker Mizzy and why have his videos caused such controversy?

If you have so much as opened Twitter or TikTok recently, you will have come across talk about a TikTok user Mizzy, who entered a stranger’s home without their permission.

The TikTok prankster, known as Mizzy, is known on the app for his pranks on the public but he has recently taken it a step too far. But who is he, and how the hell did this all happen?

Mizzy is an 18-year-old from Hackney

Mizzy, whose real name is Bacari, is an 18-year-old TikToker best known for his pranks on social media. He started content creation when he was in year eight after being “kicked out of school three times”, according to The Independent.

Bacari told the publication he realised each time he “upped the ante and did wilder videos”, people engaged with his content more and so he followed down that route.

“Controversy, even though it’s not good, is the best way to blow up on social media,” he said. “I always know outrage is going to happen. I know exactly what I’m doing and the consequences of my actions. I tell people not to reciprocate what I’ve done.”

He was first arrested after a video of him harassing Jewish people went viral

Back in February, Mizzy was arrested for assault after he posted videos that appeared to show him harassing Jewish people.

In one video, he is videoed sneaking up behind a young Charedi man and jumping into the air, attempting to leapfrog over him. In another video, he was shown to be cycling while wearing a hoiche hat and said: “Guys, I’m a f**king Jew.”

Defending himself, Bacari said he doesn’t discriminate and a lot of his videos are him just “f**king around with people”.

He was later arrested for racially aggravated assault, but said he was later told he was being charged with criminal damage, and he plead not guilty.

A Metropolitan Police statement said that on January 18, an 18-year-old man was arrested for assaulting a member of the Jewish community. The police said: “The man has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.”

He recently went viral for entering a stranger’s house without permission

Mizzy’s most recent controversy is a video of him entering an affluent London home, without permission of the homeowner.

In the video, the TikToker can be seen with two other people, saying: “Walking into random houses, let’s go.”

The video shows him walking in through the front door that was left open and starts sitting on the sofa before being asked to leave.

Mizzy claims he went to the house the day after he posted the video and apologised to them. “I wouldn’t do that again,” he said, continuing: “It could have bene the best or worst decision of my life.”

His TikTok account and YouTube page have both been removed from the respective sites.

A TikTok spokesperson said: “Our Community Guidelines are clear that we prohibit content promoting criminal activity. In relation to this issue, we have banned accounts for violating these guidelines.”

The Met Police said it was taking the matter ‘very seriously’

The Metropolitan Police released a statement on Monday the 22nd of May and said: “The main individual who features in the footage – an 18-year-old man – has been identified by officers. He is seen, in the company of another, to enter a private address in Hackney seemingly without the permission of the homeowners.”

Officers are carrying out enquiries to trace a man after a video showing individuals entering a private residence was posted on social media.

“Attempts are currently being made by officers from the Central East Command Unit to locate the man so that he can be dealt with for a suspected breach of a Community Protection Notice issued last May. That notice prohibits him from carrying out any act which will or is intended to cause harassment, alarm or distress. It is believed that the content of the video in question could amount to such a breach.

“The breach was imposed in response to a number of historical videos posted on social media by the same individual.”
