Erm, Carole Baskin’s husband was found alive and well and we all just missed this major news

At what point do we take a long, hard look at ourselves for being complete idiots? Thee Carole Baskin revealed her husband Don Lewis is alive and well – how did we miss this major news? Don went missing and was legally declared dead in 2002 but somehow in the midst of the pandemic we missed the breaking news that he was FOUND alive.

Don Lewis’ disappearance happened six years after he married Carole. It was a huge plot point in the Netflix show, Tiger King. Many of his family members suspected Carole had actually killed him and fed him to tigers. How did we not know this man was alive?

However when Carole Baskin appeared on ITV’s This Morning talking about how she was represented in the second series of Tiger King, she revealed she was contacted by officials at the Federal Bureau of Investigations and Homeland Security. She said: “They said my husband, Don Lewis, is alive and well in Costa Rica. And yet all of this drama has been made about me having something to do with his disappearance, when Homeland Security has known where he is at least since back then.”

Carole suggested Don’s family contact officials at the government agency. She added: “I think maybe they should check with Homeland Security, who seems to know where he is.” Carole then admitted she is surprised her ex survived. She said: “I didn’t think he was capable of supporting himself. He took about a million dollars down to Costa Rica, I had agreed to let him do that so he could prove to himself that he could make a living.”

Carole attempted to recover what she could out of that million dollars years later, only to find it was about $80,000 “because the investments he had made were so bad.”
