Simon Cowell frequently brings up the success of One Direction during The Next Act, but how much money did he actually make from them?
Well, according to reports, One Direction collectively made just over £100 million in their first two years from sales, endorsements, merch and touring.

And their management, which included Simon Cowell’s Syco Music label, made an additional £200 million in that two years from the band’s success.
However, Simon Cowell has previously revealed that he doesn’t own “the name” of One Direction, and as such he didn’t profit from any revenue streams to do with the brand name itself, rather than the members.

He’s admitted that it’s his biggest regret when it comes to the boyband, saying in an interview for The Diary of a CEO that he wishes he owned the band’s brand.
He confessed: “The one thing I regret is I should have kept the name. I should have owned the name. That’s the problem.”
But, according to estimates, Simon Cowell could have made around £70 million individually from One Direction, so it’s no wonder he’s trying to replicate their success on The Next Act.
