The real reason the Mormon Wives always wear gym clothes involves a loophole in their faith
This is so sneaky
You might have noticed that a lot of the time the cast of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives aren’t wearing garments, but workout gear instead.
Now, for some of the cast of the show, they’re no longer Mormons or never even went through the temple in the first place, so they aren’t required to wear garments.
However, for those who still do like to respect the rule of wearing garments from time to time, it turns out there’s a loophole that means they can get away with wearing workout clothes constantly.
But first off, what actually are the garments? Mormon garments are sacred items of clothing that are worn underneath regular clothes by Mormons who have made their “sacred promises” by going through the temple.

For women these typically include a white top or vest which is worn underneath your bra and longer shorts which replace standard underwear.
The purpose of the Mormon garments is to serve a physical reminder of the promises made in the temple, alongside encouraging modesty.
However, there are times when you aren’t required to wear the garments, such as when you’re having s*x, swimming or working out, something the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives cast takes full advantage of.
Yep, so that means that as long as they’re wearing workout clothes, and have done some kind of exercise, which walking probably counts as right, then they’re still fine not to wear their garments.
But, do any of the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives cast even follow the faith anymore?

During initial filming for the show, Jen Affleck would wear her garments, explaining it as “the same as wearing your wedding ring. It’s just a reminder of the promises that you made.”
As for why she decided to wear them whilst filming, Jen explained: “Before doing the show, I made a promise to myself that I’m going to really try hard to wear my garments throughout the show, because I wanted those reminders. It helped me a ton.”
However, this would sometimes cause an internal conflict as you can image the garments aren’t exactly sensual, with Jen admitting: “There were so many days where I wanted to wear something more sexy or more revealing! I went back and forth.”
Other cast members such as Mikayla and Layla never went though the temple, and as such they’re not required to wear the garments.
