The current Squid Game: The Challenge cast are feuding with the previous winner, here’s why
It's getting unbelievably messy
There’s some serious drama brewing between season one Squid Game: The Challenge winner, Mai Whelan and the current season two cast, after she claimed the Mingle riot was actually scripted.
During the Mingle game in episode four, contestants were forced to scramble across a spinning platform featuring coloured doors.
When the platform came to a halt a number was announced and that number of contestants would have to try and fit into one room.

Anyone who couldn’t fit into the room or if there weren’t the correct number of people in a group would be eliminated.
However, this challenge quickly came undone after the players decided to revolt, and refused to continue playing and instead held hands and stood still.
This caused the Front Man to give them boxes containing marbles, which forced them into an unexpected one on one battle.
Appearing on Reality Alert podcast, previous Squid Game: The Challenge winner Mai Whelan admitted that she thought the moment was heavily scripted, and called it out for being “lame.”
@realityalertpodcast Mai Whelan, the winner of Squid Game The Challenge Season 1 joined Max on the podcast to talk about the season finale of Squid Game: The Challenge Season 2 on Netflix. She explained: “How can anybody stand together when they signed up to play the freaking game? Like, ‘I refuse to play,’ then eliminate all of them?”
However, her comments quickly drew anger from the current cast members, with numerous players clapping back at her claims that the riot was scripted.
Anlenie, Player 405, wrote on TikTok: “Nothing about that revolt was scripted. We can’t discuss the behind-the-scenes stuff because of NDA, but we were truly ready to walk. Production just spun it into a storyline after the fact.”
Player 443 added: “‘It was not scripted. There was also drama in Catch.” And Player 183 chimed in too, commenting: “Lmao. Mai has no idea.”
