Erm, it turns out Jason and Brett Oppenheim are secretly huge real estate nepo babies
Their great great grandfather founded their company in the 1800s?!
I don’t know why, but in my head I have this assumption that The Oppenheim Group was fully started from the ground up by Jason and Brett sometimes in the mid 2000s.
But as it turns out, Jason and Brett Oppenheim might be some of the biggest secret nepo babies out there, as it turns out the entire company was started by their great great grandfather in the 1800s.

So safe to say its very much a family business, but let’s get into the history of the insanely old company.
Whilst we know it as The Oppenheim Group today, when their great great grandfather founded the company in 1889, it was known as The Stern Realty Co, which was opened in the Pacific Electric Building in Los Angeles.

Their great great grandfather, Jacob Stern had huge success as a result of his property company and became one of the biggest landowners and wealthiest businessmen in California, owning almost 20,000 acres of real estate.
Jacob then built the Hollywood Plaza Hotel on his land, and it soon became hugely popular with the celebrities at the time, and even today is an important landmark.

And if that wasn’t impressive enough, the actual Paramount Pictures was started in one of Jacob’s properties that he leased, and was the first movie studio in Hollywood. And we all know how that one turned out.
As for Brett and Jason Oppenheim, they have made reference to the fact that The Oppenheim Group is a family business, previously mentioning: “Real estate was always in my blood, five generations of my family have practiced some form of real estate.”
