Ronnie spoke out after Houston’s death
Since Houston’s passing, Ronnie has slowly begun opening up about how her life has changed.
In a family statement posted in 2022, she asked for privacy while thanking those who had offered compassion and respect during such an unimaginable time.
She later shared that daily routines, ambitions, and even her sense of identity have all been reshaped by grief.
Appearing on A Very Mary Commentary With Mary Zilba in 2024, she and her therapist, Jim Skinner, talked about how she’s still processing the loss, and touched on how Houston’s passing resulted in “complex grief.”
She said: “My relationship with Houston was… we were two peas in a pod… we were most alike and we spent a lot of time together. Losing Houston has been paramount, it’s huge, and it’s something I struggle with every single day. Some days I have a handle on it… some days I just think of him and I start balling my eyes out, so grief is not linear…”
Now, Ronnie’s journey is no longer about red carpets or reality TV moments, it’s about healing, remembering her son, and finding strength in vulnerability. She and her family set up @thehoustonstevensonlegacy in her son’s honour.
