Wait, did Kim Kardashian just admit she lied about ruining Marilyn Monroe’s dress?!
She managed to keep it under wraps this whole time?!
Kim Kardashian is known for making some pretty iconic moves. And, throwing it back to May 2022, she was doing just that. The Kardashians star stepped out at the Met Gala wearing Marilyn Monroe’s ‘Happy Birthday, Mr President’ dress.
The moment was always going to be one that went down in history, naturally. But, when rumours began swirling around that Kim had “ruined” the dress… people were certainly not going to forget about it any time soon. Now, she’s finally come clean about what happened to the frock.
Kim hinted Marilyn Monroe’s dress got ruined
After Kim wore the iconic dress in 2022, she faced a lot of backlash. People basically thought they noticed a “tear” in the garment and pointed the finger at her for the alleged damage.
The Guardian reported: “A Marilyn Monroe collector has claimed that “permanent damage” has been inflicted by Kim Kardashian on the iconic dress Monroe wore to serenade John F Kennedy on his 45th birthday, shortly before the actor’s death.”
Appearing in a fun lie detector segment with Teyana Taylor for Variety this month, Kim answered the all-important question: Did she ruin Marilyn’s dress?
Hooked up to the machine, Kim replied: “No…”
Teyana asked: “So you’re saying that it got to you already whooped?”
Smiling, Kim added: “I don’t know how it got to me, but it’s perfect now.”
“So, when you tried it on, what was the dress giving?” continued Teyana.
The reality TV star fired back: “You’re gonna cost me like $10 million in insurance… let’s move on…” before laughing.”
Things seem a little fishy

As the segment came to a close, Kim asked the woman manning the lie detector test: “Was I being truthful?”
“All of it is true,” she responded, before Kimberly widened her eyes.
Teyana asked her why she was shocked, before Kim laughed: “I’m not.”
Some pretty wild lengths had to be gone to in order for Kim to even be able to wear the dress to the Met, so it’s no wonder she probably wants to keep a lid on the details of it all!
Apparently, “The dress was kept in a temperature-controlled environment since the tourist attraction bought it in 2016. It had not been worn by anyone between Monroe and Kardashian.”
Before wearing it, Kim also said: “I’m extremely respectful to the dress and what it means to American history… I would never want to sit in it or eat in it or have any risk of any damage to it, and I won’t be wearing the kind of body makeup I usually do.”
