1000-lb Sisters star receives shock diagnosis months after experiencing heart palpitations
I hope she's doing okay
Amanda Halterman from 1000-lb Sisters has revealed a shock discovery about her health. She has received a diagnosis in the last month after experiencing heart palpitations almost a year ago, and was required to wear a heart monitor to track her heartbeats.
She noticed that, after getting Covid-19 in January, she didn’t feel right. It began with going to the doctor and being urged to wear a heart monitor, which showed that her heart rate would go right down when she’d sit down, and be dangerously high when she’d stand.
Amanda, who has undergone weight loss surgery twice, has now revealed she’s been diagnosed with POTS, which stands for postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, and is a condition involving an abnormally large increase in heart rate when sitting up or standing.

She explained how she isn’t getting enough oxygen to her feet, as blood is going to her brain, which leads to passing out, alongside getting heart palpitations and feeling dizzy. “Something wasn’t feeling right, I can’t explain it, so that’s when I phoned my doctor,” Amanda said.
The doctor “saved her” and added: “There are some days where all I can do is sit here and cry and beg God to fix me. Praying for everyone who suffers in silence and is told by drs it’s all in your head. But I will not allow my 44 years of life to be defined by a sickness.”

Amanda, who also said she has a few other health issues, continued: “I am going to have to wear a monitor to make sure all of my blood sugars are good. It [POTS] looks like someone who is not sick, it looks perfectly normal. Now I have to wear a book bag of medication.”
