Here’s everything Blake and Anna have said about suddenly leaving Love Is Blind
A whole lot of ghosting went down in season nine
The ninth season of Love Is Blind stunned viewers when two key contestants, Anna Yuan and Blake Anderson, abruptly exited the pods without farewells.
Their departures sparked confusion and backlash on social media, but in recent interviews and statements, both have shared their emotional reasoning behind walking away so early.
Here’s a breakdown of what Anna and Blake have said about leaving season nine.
Love Is Blind’s Anna ghosted on the experiment

From the start, Anna entered the pods knowing there was no guarantee she’d find “the one.” She said she’d be OK not finding someone, admitting: “I went in there thinking that anything could happen… I’d be OK if I didn’t find somebody because it’s such a wild thing,” per Tudum.
Her connection with Blake initially felt natural, she was drawn to “the kindness in his voice” and appreciated that he seemed grounded rather than performative. Meanwhile, Patrick also entered the picture, and Anna said she was drawn to him after breaking through her initial assumptions.
Over time, though, Anna says the intensity of emotional vulnerability unsettled her.
“I started seeing myself being pretty vulnerable, and it scared me a little bit because … this is going to be broadcast for people,” she explained.
She also wrestled with guilt, feeling like she might be “taking up a spot” someone else could have used to find love. On the night she left, she revealed: “I was a wreck.… My eyes were almost swollen shut from crying. I was embarrassed.”
When asked whether she regrets leaving without a direct goodbye, Anna said she doesn’t believe the connections were strong enough to have sustained a marriage. “I don’t think I regret it because I don’t think the connections were strong enough to have a successful marriage from there.”
She acknowledged that producers asked whether she’d want to go into the pod and tell Patrick she was leaving, but emotionally, she couldn’t face being on camera anymore.
Blake’s early departure
Blake’s exit came shortly after he was informed that Anna had left. While some speculated he left because of her departure, he’s insisted the timing was not the driving factor.
He explained that as days passed in the pods, he began doing the “math in my head” and realised a proposal likely wasn’t in the cards for him.
“You become optimistic for a hot second. But I slowly came back down to earth… I didn’t feel close to an engagement with any of my connections. So I thought the best thing… was to remove myself,” he said.
In his view, the show itself communicates that participants should only stay if they’re working toward a proposal.
However, Blake has expressed regret about how he exited, especially leaving Megan W. hanging without a word. “I’m aware I was thinking about myself selfishly… In hindsight, I would have done things a bit differently,” he added.
He also said that in that moment, he was deeply focused on his own emotional state, believing removal was the “right thing” for him at that time, even though he acknowledges it felt clumsy.
Blake also reflected on trust in the pods: “When you go in, you’re getting butterflies… what hurts is knowing… someone was going through that, and I wasn’t there to metaphorically catch them.”
He also confirmed that producers were supportive of his choice and that nothing about his departure was scripted.
