If you needed any further confirmation that we’re definitely in some kind of horrifying alternate reality, look no further than that latest Skims drop, in which Kim Kardashian has brought us all merkins.
In case you’re blessed enough to not be familiar with what a merkin is, they actually originated in the 1400s, with sex workers wearing them to help hide and prevent diseases.
They’re essentially just a wig for your downstairs area, and so of course it makes complete sense that Kim Kardashian would release a Skims line of them, in 12 different colourways and complete with different textures no less.
The drop was announced with a promotional video, captioned: “Just Dropped: The Ultimate Bush. With our daring new Faux Hair Panty, your carpet can be whatever colour you want it to be.”
In the description for the product, which goes for $32 per pubic wig and has almost completely sold out, it states that it features “a mix of curly and straight faux hair in twelve different shade variations.”
So no matter whether you’re a natural ginger or a bleach dyed blonde, Skims has made sure there’s a faux public thong wig out there for all of us. Joy of joys.
Oh, and in case you were wondering, the merkins are hand wash only, so you can impress your Hinge date by washing them in the sink and leaving them out to dry out on the side, slowly fluttering in the wind.
