‘I thought my life was over’: Jake Latimer speaks out on shocking unaired Survivor 49 snake bite

Survivor 49 cast member Jake Latimer was treated for a medical emergency after he was bitten by a sea krait, ultimately meaning he was sent home.
Whilst the bite ended up being dry, meaning no venom had entered his body, he still had to be flown out to a hospital to continue medical care.
In an interview with Parade, Jake Latimer has opened up about everything viewers didn’t see from his snake bite and how he thought “he was going to die” whilst on Survivor 49.
Jake admitted that re-watching the moment his accident was spoken about on the show was very traumatic, saying that he’d been “dreading this day since it happened.”
He recalled that at the time of the bite he thought his “life was over” and knowing that he was soon to become a dad, kept thinking “don’t let me die, don’t let me die.”
Jake Latimer recalled how the unaired Survivor 49 moment happened, explaining that when they slept on the beach they’d often get pinched by crabs, so he assumed he’d just been pinched by a crab.
However, upon looking down he realised it was a black and white snake, saying that once he told production he’d be bitten everything descended into “chaos.”
He explained that the danger of the situation soon hit him, explaining: “And that’s when my world kind of flipped upside down.
“I wasn’t out of consciousness, but I was in there with mental capacity. I don’t remember the boat ride. I do remember like I was on the floor for some point to that. I think I even threw up on the boat.
“It was a lot of psychological stuff happening, too. Like I said, man, I’m about to be a father. This cannot be the way I go. So, yeah, it was just after that, everything was a little bit of a blur. Just so much happening.”
However, as a result of Jake being bitten by the snake he got to home earlier than he’d expected which meant he was able to be there for the birth of his son.
