When Bella Hadid took to Instagram to share a health update with her followers this year, people were terrified to see her laying in what looked like a hospital bed. She apologised in the post’s caption for being a little ‘hot and cold’ with her Instagram activity. And behind the scenes, it turns out she’s been battling Lyme disease for decades.
Bella turned 29 on October 9 and just days later, she shared another heartbreaking post. Sharing some deep feelings with her audience, the model revealed how she’s coping after that terrifying hospitalisation.

On September 17, Bella shared a snapshot of her tough reality with the world.
She let the cameras in on her health battle and it prompted an outpouring of support and love from a lot of people. Her mom, Yolanda Foster, also took to Instagram to share how she felt her daughter was (and is) a “warrior.”
Bella, her mom, and her brother, Anwar Hadid, all battle Lyme disease to this day. Bella’s snaps showed her laying in a hospital bed, and being hooked up to IV drips.
The model revealed a heartbreaking reality
Almost a month on from her Lyme disease post, and just days after her birthday, Bella shared another heartbreaking reality with her followers.
She took to Instagram on October 12 to share a lengthy post and caption about her mental health. She wrote: “…something I’ve carried for many years is the weight of anxiety and depression…
“…it can sometimes feel all-consuming, paralysing, and invisible to the outside world, leaving you in tears before starting your day, wondering why your mind feels so heavy when life around you seems so bright.”
Bella shared gratitude for her closest loved ones, writing: “I’m lucky to have a support system that listens and understands me” and detailed some of what she experiences herself, adding how she believes “Access to mental health care is not a luxury – it’s a right.”
