Erm, Bronwyn just dished on her real job before Real Housewives of Salt Lake City
The reality is actually so disappointing
When a new Housewife joins the Bravo world, one of the first questions fans ask is ‘What do they actually do in real life?’ For Bronwyn Newport, the newest face on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, it turns out her background isn’t just about ski chalets and designer handbags.
She recently opened up on Instagram about her career before Bravo fame, and let’s just say, it wasn’t exactly the glamorous path she originally dreamed of…
Bronwyn’s career before RHOSLC
“I doubt she even went to college!” YES 👏 Baby G! BYU dropout Conwyn LOVES to talk about having “worked in finance,” but neglects to mention that this was as an executive assistant. Conwyn was allegedly fired for stilling A LOT from the firm she was working for. Which I suspect… https://t.co/0rZURKYdPq pic.twitter.com/1AgPmwsVKr

In a candid Instagram Q&A, Bronwyn revealed that she fell into finance “out of necessity,” not passion. Her heart had been set on fashion school after college, but instead, she followed her parents’ advice and chose a more traditional career route.
After being expelled from BYU, which she admitted wasn’t her “finest hour,” finance offered her stability and a way to support herself and her daughter.
Bronwyn explained that working in finance in San Francisco ended up being a practical move. She explained how it gave her solid hours, financial security, and kept her close to her parents, which helped while raising her young child.
But she’s also honest about the fact that she carried resentment during that time. She said she had a “chip on [her] shoulder” about being pushed into a career she didn’t truly want, which sometimes spilt over into her work environment.
That being said, it wasn’t all doom and gloom. Bronwyn recognises that the period taught her valuable lessons about accountability and self-awareness, even if it wasn’t a career she looks back on with much fondness. How reflective of her!
She clarified what her actual job was
Of course, Bravo viewers love specifics, so what exactly did Bronwyn do? She was quick to set expectations: “I never really had a super high-powered gig,” she admitted.
Instead, she worked in equity sales and tech fundraising, particularly around IPOs for banks and startups, across a ten-year period. So while she doesn’t call herself a “business maven” or “tech pioneer,” she definitely had hands-on experience in a demanding industry.
Bronwyn also used her Q&A to share some wisdom for women in business. She was upfront about not being the best source of advice for finance or tech, but she did stress a life lesson.
The RHOSLC star said not to let anger or frustration be an excuse for bad choices. “Learn to act, not react,” she wrote, urging her followers to hold themselves accountable and pursue what they truly want rather than being pushed into something that doesn’t fit.
It’s refreshing to see a Real Housewife admit her career path wasn’t picture-perfect.
Bronwyn’s story shows that even if the job isn’t glamorous, or even the one you wanted, it can shape you in meaningful ways! And now that she’s swapped IPOs for icy dinner-table showdowns, we’re all getting to see a very different side of her on RHOSLC.
