Spencer Matthews and Jamie Laing finally break silence about feud in emotional conversation
They revealed the real reason Spencer wasn't invited to the wedding
Jamie Laing and Spencer Matthews have been friends for decades after meeting on Made in Chelsea, but their friendship fell apart earlier this year.
Reports of snubs came about after Spencer wasn’t present at Jamie’s wedding and didn’t seem to publicly support him during his ultramarathon.
However, the pair have finally sat down together in an emotional podcast episode on Great Company with Jamie Lang, to finally hash it all out.
Jamie Laing reveals why he didn’t invite Spencer Matthews to the wedding
The first topic that was brought up was the wedding, which Spencer said he only found out he wasn’t invited to after seeing the pictures of the event in The Daily Mail.
Jamie explained that one of the reasons he didn’t invite Spencer to his wedding was because Spencer didn’t want to come to his stag do, saying that because he missed that event he assumed he wasn’t fussed about going to the wedding.
Spencer explained that stag do’s aren’t his thing, and “make whoever you’re marrying really uncomfortable” and the idea of “going to a foreign country with a bunch of lads” doesn’t sit right with him.
He said that when groups of people get “very drunk” that people can make bad decisions, and as such he decided years ago that he wouldn’t go to them anymore.
However he admitted he should have made more of an effort to tell Jaime that those were the reasons he didn’t want to go on the stag do, and not because he didn’t want to attend the wedding.
Jamie admitted that he thinks Spencer was at a ‘selfish’ point in his life

Jamie responded that the “biggest mistake” he made was not communicating with Spencer about what happened and they really regretted what happened. The two clarified that the whole situation is “water under the bridge now.”
Jamie added that he thinks Spencer was also in a “selfish” point in his life where he didn’t want to get in situations where alcohol was involved as he’d previously struggled with it in the past.
Ultimately Spencer admitted he should have gone to the stag do for a couple nights, with Jamie then saying he’s also very sensitive to rejection which made the whole thing harder for him.
Spencer explained that he knows he’s ‘not a great friend’ to Jamie

Jamie then explained that he was frustrated that all of the coverage around his ultramarathon became dominated by their feud.
He explained: “All these articles started coming out saying we weren’t friends and I think that was very upsetting for both of us.”
Spencer added that the two actually “spoke a lot” during that time, with Jamie saying that whilst that was true they went through a period of “not being friendly” with each other.
Spencer continued: “We could have gone for dinner and hashed out our issues, but we didn’t so then it feels sour. And then we spend days not talking anyway because in reality you run three business, I run two, life is different now.
“I’m not a great friend anyway, there’s a few people I’m in contact with semi-regularly and that’s it. I admire your social life to be honest.”
Jamie asked: “But didn’t we go out for dinner? There were things we both wanted to say to each other.”
Spencer responded: “We’ve hit the nail on the head with the confusion about the stag do, because I would not have understood that to be troubling to you in any way, wouldn’t have even crossed my mind that could be a potential issue.”
He explained that the first big rift was him having to learn through The Daily Mail that Jamie had had friends at his wedding and Spencer hadn’t been one of them.
Spencer emotionally confesses that he thought the two were “best friends” at the time which made it hurt even more.
He said that after that the two lost touch, with Jamie Laing agreeing that whilst that was true he felt as though Spencer Matthews deliberately trued to “separate himself” from him, which Spencer agreed with.
Jamie revealed he purposefully didn’t invite him to attend his ultramarathon as the two ‘weren’t friendly’ at the time
The two then realised that they’d fallen out after seeing all the press articles, with Spencer admitting realising how he’d behaved.
Spencer explained that the reason he didn’t openly support Jamie throughout his ultramarathon was because he was planning on posting once he’d finished the whole thing.
“I hadn’t even realised I made a mistake. I was watching you and when you finished I posted what I thought was good statement.”
He explained that he felt upset that Jamie hadn’t asked him to be there for him at the ultramarathon, saying he waited for the phone to ring and it never did.
Jamie justified his decision, saying he didn’t invite him because the two “weren’t friendly” at the time, with him saying there’s “no way” he would have come.
