Here’s the real reason Charlie Sheen’s father and brother aren’t in his Netflix documentary
Their absence is very noticeable
Charlie Sheen’s new Netflix documentary, aka Charlie Sheen gives an in-depth look into the actors life over the years, going into detail about his struggles with addiction over the years.
However, as you watching you might have noticed that despite the numerous appearances from his friends and family, including his ex-wife Denise Richards, however two key family members are noticeably absent.
Neither Charlie Sheen’s father, Martin Sheen and his older brother Emilio Estevez appear in aka Charlie Sheen, and now the producer of the documentary has revealed the real reason why.

According to the director, both of them declined to appear in the documentary, but not because they weren’t supportive of it.
He revealed: “They wanted to let Charlie have this moment. I sat down with them to watch the movie, and they are fully supportive of it and love it. They are all very close.”
And in a sense Martin Sheen is in almost every episode of the documentary consistently, as he also struggled with addiction when Charlie was growing up.

Charlie Sheen explained in a podcast: “I thought that it was kind of almost beautifully poetic to have to tell the story without him.
“From my perspective, Martin, as a father, didn’t want to just have some guy sit across from him and make him relive all of those moments, which he feels are behind him now. That’s something I really respected.”

The director added: “There is not a father-and-son duo in the history of entertainment who have shared the screen as much as Charlie and Martin have.
“Charlie’s character [in Wall Street] was the son who had lost his way, and the father wants to get him back on track. And I thought it was a great way to have Martin live in this movie.
“They were living this journey together while taking on roles that told this story. I needed to make sure it was a part of this documentary.”
