Reality star urges people to unfollow her amid ‘revolting’ Charlie Kirk post backlash
'Unfollow me immediately'
Following the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, Home Town star Erin Napier paid tribute and shared her thoughts via Instagram. When Erin took to social media following Charlie’s fatal shooting, she probably didn’t expect the wave of backlash that came her way.
But in true Erin fashion, she stood her ground, reminding followers that while everyone’s entitled to their opinions, celebrating someone’s death crosses a line. The HGTV personality even went as far as telling fans to hit the unfollow button if they didn’t agree with her stance.
Erin responded to Charlie Kirk’s death
Charlie Kirk, the 31-year-old founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot on September 10 during an event in Utah. His death sent shockwaves across political and pop culture circles, and it wasn’t long before reality TV stars started paying tribute and sharing their opinions. Erin was one of them.
On Instagram, she shared a quote that read: “Only the demonized celebrate death,” per Distractify. By posting it, Erin was making it clear that, regardless of political beliefs, being happy over the loss of a life wasn’t something she could agree with.
For many people, it was a simple, compassionate message. But for others, it struck a nerve. Some followers flooded her DMs and comments section with negative messages.
She said she was ‘revolted’
Erin didn’t let the negative comments slide. Instead, she doubled down, telling her followers exactly how she felt. “I am revolted by some of the comments in my DMs about the last slide,” she wrote. “Unfollow me, immediately, if you could be one of those comments. Christ, have mercy on us all.”
She clarified that her Charlie Kirk post wasn’t about politics, but about basic humanity: “I will not celebrate murder.”
Her firm stance sparked even more conversation, with some long-time fans praising her courage to speak up, while others threatened to stop watching her shows or boycott her brand collaborations.
