Kim Kardashian has messed up again as SKIMS gets called out for ‘unrealistic body types’
'We aren't shaped like this'
Kim Kardashian is being slammed for her recent SKIMS drop, which is centred around her body type. It’s called the ‘wide load’ launch, but it’s not exactly something many people relate to, especially because the shaping of the underwear doesn’t represent all body types.
She shared loads of the new clothing on her Instagram Story, featuring high-waist leggings and capris. People are not happy at all, as is the case with a lot of Kim’s ideas, and lots of criticism has been aimed at the “thigh gap” look all of the bottoms are showing.
One person wrote, “So it’s for women with a BBL, cool.” Another said in response to the new cookbook, “It should be called, ‘SKIMS.. You’re one stop BBL shop.’ Seriously gross that they are only advertising to women with specific surgically enhanced body.”
The fall wardrobe showed Kim posing in bras, pants and leggings, from pink leopard print to sheer black underwear. It’s not looking to be a huge hitter for everyone, because one person said, “Kim tbh most of your skin drops haven’t been hitting unless it’s a collaboration.”
A bodysuit is priced for around £72, while a bra costs around £68. There’s even a set of knickers that say the words, “Temptation, Curious, Feelings,” which are currently priced at £68, and some say the “quality doesn’t match the price.”
One person said, “Have those hips, long legs, and outer thighs, not a THIGH GAP!! 🤣🤣🤣 She’s trying to imitate a certain body shape, but you can’t buy natural.” However, SKIMS is one of the most successful celebrity underwear brands out there.
The brand is worth $4 billion after it only launched in 2019, and even generated $2 million in sales on launch day within minutes. Following a $270 million funding round, its’ revenue climbed to nearly $900 million, making Kim the seventh richest celebrity in 2025.
