Kal has finally revealed whether he wore blue contacts during Love Is Blind UK
There are endless rumours about his eyes changing colour
EXCLUSIVE: Kal won us over with his Love Is Blind UK marriage to Sarover, but there was something about his eyes. Oh yes, the unusual way his eyes would change from a bright blue to dark all in the space of a few scenes, but he’s exclusively told Reality Shrine the truth.
There’s been loads of discourse that Kal is wearing blue contact lenses, especially as when he met Sarover, his eyes looked bright. He told us: “This is funny. My real eyes are blue/grey, they go more blue in the sun though which is probably why, or it’s just different lighting.”
He even joked that he “must have been wearing them as a baby” as he always had blue eyes even as a kid. Kal responded in this way after a viewer said, “It was obvious who Kal was from the beginning. The man wears blue contact lenses.”
When we asked Kal if he noticed his eyes change colour a lot before the show, he said: “Yeah, of course. Like every time I go on holiday, they’re a lot more blue, something to do with the sun properly.” And there’s actually a scientific fact to do with why eyes change colour!
Eyes can appear to change colour in the sun because of the way light interacts with melanin in the iris. Prolonged or repeated exposure to sunlight, however, can actually increase the amount of melanin in the iris, causing a permanent darkening of the eye colour.
People noticed that Kal’s brother has the same colour-changing eyes, like their mother, who naturally has blue eyes. Even in older pictures, you can see that his eyes are really blue (above left) when he’s outside, while his brother’s are clearly darker.
