She's spilling all the tea
Ivory Glaze is spilling all the tea, and trust, it’s piping hot. The cheeky sensation from RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under season three didn’t just sashay onto our screens, she sashayed into our hearts. From fainting mid-elimination to calling out the shade lurking backstage, this vivacious queen has stories for days. So buckle up, it’s time to slip into the Werk Room and see just how shady things really were, courtesy of one unforgettable queen.
RuPaul’s Drag Race star spills on Werk Room reality
Back in 2023, Ivory Glaze was a RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under contestant. And, throwing it back, she had some choice words about the Werk Room and her co-stars, per an interview with Pride.
She dished: “We thought we were getting along too well. I was very surprised that it turned out so shady. I was like, ‘These these b***hes were being really shady!’ I don’t know if I was having fun. In Australia we like to be shady, we like to be mean, we like to be rude, and that’s how you show affection to someone. So I thought it was fun. That’s how I talk to my girls back home. Why can I talk to you guys like that? I think the shadiest one is definitely Ashley Madison. That b***h is shady as all hell!”
Slaysian Royale was different
These days, Ivory Glaze is appearing in Slaysian Royale. And, she’s iconically shared an update of what it’s really like inside the Drag Race Werk Room, courtesy of an interview with Q News. Ivory was asked if what we see in the Werk Room (which is seemingly sisterly) is actually super shady.
She said this time around, things were different: “No, it honestly wasn’t. Because we are all Asian, it affected the level of camaraderie backstage. We all really wanted to help one another. When you’re in a normal season or franchise, you feel like you’re all competing against one another. But here we had four or five queens around you letting you know that you’ve got this, or asking if you need something.
“Everyone was helping each other, lending whatever they could, so we could all do the most that we could. Because if someone needs something, we’re happy to help, and we’re happy to give and support each other. Of course, in the confessions, they framed it like the Filipinos protecting their land, but it really didn’t feel like that. We were all really quite close, and you still are, which is amazing.”
Speaking of Slaysian Royale as a whole, Ivory added: “I think it was quite liberating. It’s not something I overly shared with people, and it explains sometimes where I come.”
