‘I’ve been erased’: The Vivienne’s ex-husband speaks out after revealing he wasn’t invited to wake
'No explanation, no empathy, just cut off'
The Vivienne’s ex-husband has spoken out about feeling “erased” and “cut off” after they revealed they weren’t invited to the wake.
The Vivienne’s real name was James Lee Williams, and they sadly passed away in January after being found in the bathtub by their neighbour after a suspected overdose.

Their funeral was held on January 27th, however their ex-husband, David Ludford, has now expressed their sadness at not being invited to the private wake afterwards.
He claimed: “I wasn’t invited to the wake, which cut deep! I’ve felt like I’ve been erased from a life we built together. No explanation, no empathy, just cut off.”
David also claimed that he felt embarrassed at having to tell people he hadn’t been invited to the wake.
He continued: “It was embarrassing when people told me they’d ‘see me at the wake’ after the funeral and I had to explain I wasn’t welcome.”

David and James tied the knot in 2019 but announced their amicable split in 2023, sharing in a post: “As many may have noticed, David and I have been apart recently. We have made the decision to part ways after an amazing five and a half years.
“We are still very much friends, but sometimes life gets in the way and people grow apart. We wish each the absolute best and will always be part of each others lives.
“We’d ask that you please respect our privacy at this time. Thank you. James and David.”
Following news of The Vivienne’s death, David wrote a tribute to his former husband, saying: “This man changed my life so much from the day we first met in August 2017 in Gran Canaria!!
“You will always have a place in my heart. Going to miss you more than people will ever know. Sleep tight angel.”
