Have you ever wondered what the casting process for Love Is Blind UK is actually like? Well, wonder no more as one woman who got through to the final round of the process and opened the lid and spilled all the secrets you’ve been dying to know.
So, from all the questions and tests you have to go through, to just how many background checks they actually have to do, let’s find out all the juicy details that have been hidden until now.
In an exclusive interview with Reality Shrine, Emma* revealed exactly what made her apply for the show and some of the elements of the casting process that really took her by shock and surprise.
The initial casting process was less question intensive than you might assume

Emma explained that she had a “brainwave late in the evening” around April last year and decided to apply for the new season of Love Is Blind UK, after always “loving the show.”
She explained that whilst the website where you apply claims the whole thing will take a mere minute three minutes, in reality it took quite a bit longer than that.
As for the reason for the holdup? Well, not only are you having to answer some basic questions, but applicants are also asked to provide “loads of photos of your face” as well as “full body” pictures.
She continued, explaining that during that stage of the process there weren’t too many questions and those she did have to answer were fairly run of the mill, such as “‘why now, what am I looking for, why am I single.’ And they asked about my previous relationships as well.”
Emma then decided to take matters into her own hands and personally reached out to the casting directors

In what can only be described as a truly iconic move, she decided to personally reach out to the Love Is Blind UK casting directors to really set herself apart from the crowd.
And clearly it worked, as only a “day after” she sent various directors a message, not one but two of them reached back to her and expressed their interest in having a more personal chat with her.
Emma recalled: “I began the process with one of them and we scheduled a call later that week and had a really great call. I’d say bring as much personality as you can to the call with them, speak to them like a mate.”
And clearly it worked, as the casting director was so impressed she invited Emma to do a video call with her to chat about Love Is Blind UK in more detail.
Taking place just a week later, the call was supposed to around 45 minutes but the pair ended up chatting for two and a half hours, with the whole thing being recorded.
However, Emma revealed that however long your video call is, it then gets “edited down into a two and a half minute casting tape which is then shared with Netflix producers.”
And with around three casting tapes getting sent to the producers per week, Emma explained that timing is everything and that her casting director made sure hers was sent at a time when her location and personality would really stand out that week.
It went radio silent for a while before the mountains of detailed paperwork started arriving

Despite Emma being left relatively in the dark about what was going on with her Love Is Blind UK casting application, she soon started receiving mountains of paperwork, a positive sign she was still in the running for the show.
As for the type of paperwork, it seems it was almost everything under the sun, with Emma recalling receiving ones for “DBS checks, full social checks, financial checks, that sort of thing.”
Her casting director then confirmed that she’d made it through to the next stage of the process

With the endless checks and paperwork indeed being a good sign, Emma revealed that she then got sent more personal questionnaires to fill out, including “three in depth personality questionnaires with around fifty questions for each one” which Netflix needed to help find her a match.
Clearly they really don’t mess around when trying to find your forever person.
Emma then also had a chat with a psychologist to check everything was okay mentally, before she received the call from Netflix that she was to be summoned to HQ for an in-person meeting with the producers.
The day of reckoning arrived, and Emma was summoned to meet with the Love Is Blind UK casting directors in person

She was told to dress as though she was having “a fancy brunch with the girls” so dressed to impress and unsure what to expect, Emma finally met with the team face to face.
Following a thorough checking of her “ring size, dress size” and “multiple pictures” she was then briefed on what to expect from the first in person stage.
The team, who were all very friendly and welcoming, told Emma to try and answer the questions as through you were “chatting with a friend.”
However, as the questions were “a bit more serious” than they were earlier on in the process, leaving Emma concerned she hadn’t been able to properly show off her personality.
That isn’t the only thing that had Emma worried, as she admitted that there were some moments where she felt like she was getting asked “trick questions to see how you react to certain things.”
Emma was then unexpectedly asked very in-depth questions about her socials by a psychologist

With the first in-person stage under her belt, Emma confessed she felt slightly apprehensive talking into the next room, where she wasn’t told exactly what was waiting for her.
And whilst it could be worse, she was met with another psychologist who started an in-depth screening process, getting up her social posts and asking her questions to do with it.
Emma revealed: “They’re watching to see how you react to stuff, they do a full deep dive and know much more about you than you think they do.”
She also admitted that she “felt like they were trying to trick me with certain elements when I went into the screening.”
As for what her advice would be having gone through the screening? Emma advises that potential applicants ” do the full sweep of your socials before you apply to the show.”
She was then told that they’d be interested on having her on the show but had to find her five matches first

Having finished the final casting element to the Love Is Blind application process, Emma was told that the producers really liked her and wanted her on the show, but there was a big but lingering in the air.
As for what that but was? Well, she explained that they’re required to find everyone “the right matches” and that those who get selected for the show “need to have a match with five of the people on there, which is pretty slim.”
When the fateful decision day arrived at long last, Emma got the call that sadly she hadn’t made it onto the show, and whilst they didn’t reveal the specifics behind why, she thinks because they “didn’t find me the right match.”
However, having watched the new season, it seems that might have been for the best as Emma admitted: “I feel like the energy of the show feels different, don’t know if i would have found a match.”
